 Rémi Charmasson, french guitar-player (Avignon, 3rd May1961).He started playing guitar as a self-taugh-man then, in 1985, he entered the Conservatory of Avignon (France) in the jazz class directed by André Jaume. He gratuated in 1987 and worked regulary with André Jaume's trio. In 1988, he played a duet with the double-bass player Claude Tchamitchian and won the contest of the jazz festival in Sorgues (France).This prize was followed by two series of concerts and the recording of a CD produced by CELP in 1990. He performed in various festivals (Sorgues, Le Mans, La Seyne) with André Jaume, Jimmy Giuffre, Buddy Collette and Charlie Mariano. Besides, he played with the sax players Thierry Maucci and Charles Tyler before materializing a personnal work by recording a trio creation with Jean-François Jenny-Clark et Fredy Studer (1992). The same year, he played and recorded a CD with the drummer Denis Charles.

"Through the combination of his first musical influences (rock and folk music) and jazz, Rémi Charmasson got a very personal style, dedicated to the richness of melodies that drew with a great accuracy and a solid rythmic basis.Dedicated also to the necessity to express his sensibility with a largest freedom, keeping in mind the idea of an indispensable structure in which he could keep a great flexibility."
